Tim Young/Solo Loco
Hot Hot Summer
Wow. The heat in NYC has been relentless. We are all cooked like a lobster!
To stay cool I recommend attending a Tim Young show. Next up is Bullmoose on August 15. Then in Sept. I will be in Astoria at Dalys pub on the 12th. Details under the 'gigs' tab.

Also recommended are major doses of AC set around 60 degrees.
Enjoy.
New Dates & Stuff
Hi. Moving on. My next date at the Bull Moose is Sunday July 18th at 10pm.
The 'Moose is 354 W. 44th St. near 9th ave.

There should also be a new date at Ding Dong lounge and I will post that ASAP.

I'm talking about hitting the studio sometime this summer to do a live solo recording of some new songs and perhaps a few older tunes that I have revved up recently. It'll be a limited physical release but, of course, it will be released on line as well.

Right now I'm in the midst of writing the second draft of my latest novel, WRITING WITH WINE. About a writer who is the absolute worst procrastinator
ever lived!

Thanks to all my long time support group of fans. You know who you are.
Brand New Blog
Hello there! My dear departed Aunt Irene would always greet me with that phrase. She was a great friend to me when I was a kid. So this particular Hello There! is aimed at a brand new blog(and my Aunt Irene) I've created with the help of this awesome new blogging site. It's known as Posterous dot com. One simply emails them entries including attachments and the next second it is up there.

You can find my new blog right here http://timsored.posterous.com/
Just cut and paste. I'm gonna load this site up with gallons of fun stuff and
music that is too tricky to get on the site here so please visit often!
Oktoberfest 2009
The fall beers are out. Had a very spicy pumpkin ale at the Pony bar over on 10th ave. recently. Don't forget to taste some of these autumn brews cos they are usually worth it.

Doing some busking these days and working on a killer set list by weaving some originals and covers into a blanket to help ease the cooler temps that are now filling the bag like Halloween candy. Got any ideas for some other cool covers? If so, send them on over via email or the guest book.

Later.
Sept. 2009
What an up and down year this has been so far. I had a manager for a minute, had a steady gig at the Bullmoose bar in my neighborhood, for two minutes and had some great summer weather for maybe three minutes.

I drove out to Colorado and had a blast. Had a jam with a fiddle player in Ohio and a jam with a guitar player in Colorado; both great players and people. Passed out some copies of 'The Cost' to several deserving characters. Had a nice stop in St. Louis. Some great coffee. Looking forward to a new batch of songs that I can feel are gonna be born this fall. I'm doing my new record with my home studio. Recording costs will not figure into the budget! Fab.

So the work is always there and now I'll have even more time to get things together. What can I tell ya? The wheel is in spin!
July 2009 Update
Hey. Slow summer so far. My dear 9th avenue is bustling but not in the way of any new music venues. I'm looking around. Last July was the busy one with the CD Release party for THE COST all in the news. Coming up on the one year anniversary of that fantastic party and performance. That would be July 27th.

There will be some new songs recorded soon. A friend in Brooklyn has offered his studio to me for the fantastic charge of zero dollars and I'm taking him up on that. Five or six new songs which I'll release in a small run on CD. More details as they develop.

Thanks for stopping by and please leave a note for the guestbook. It doesn't go up right away but I'm always checking to see what's there so your comment will be posted asap.

Spring Stuff
The series of gigs at the BullMoose Saloon has come to an end.
There was confusion between their management and owners and so,
of course, I end up on the side walk. Typical. Buh, bye!

There are going to be several unscheduled events at the House of Brews
late nights, Wednesday or Thursdays depending on when I drag my butt
over there. Short sets, but intense, will begin around 2AM...
That's the HOB on 46th street east of of 9th ave. If you send me a note
I could probably clue you in to an exact night.

At the end of May, Memorial Day weekend, I will be at Kymara's
Gallery in Biddeford, Maine. Also that weekend is a show at a
reataurant known as Bandaloo. This should be the perfect prelude
to a busy summer of shows out of town. Looking forward to the thrill
of the road trip! Plus lots of new songs on the horizon...
Poughkeepsie!
The gig at Bocca Cafe in Poughkeepsie was the best. This is because of the new beginning it represents. Many thanks go to, my manager, Kym Lonergan, Milo Rocks,
Billy Name, and Erik who owns the cafe.
We all had big fun and are so looking forward to all that is to come.
Rock on.
Brand New Bag
Well, take a step back and watch what happens! No sooner did I have the idea to take a little break then some opportunities come knocking. Through connections at Facebook this wonderful agent was able to find me. Her name is Kymara Lonergan and she is a gem. We met last week and had the greatest time. My first show for her will be Saturday night April 4th at the Caffe Bocca in Poughkeepsie, NY. It looks like it will be a busy summer too. I'll post all the dates here at the site. I'm so pleased.

In addition I'm back at the local pub, BullMoose saloon one Thursday a month. This past weeks gig on the 19th was amazing. The energy was as high as a kite and everyone had it inside them. The rock n roll was loud and proud. A night to remember.

Thanks to all who have been so faithful in their support. I know who you are. There ain't no letting up now. Can't wait to get on the road!
February '09
Gone are the holidays. January too. I just heard someone say 'happy New year' last night so Happy New Year! The Cost is still ranking up there as the number ONE release of 2008. The title track, The Cost, is an absolute must hear and can be found right here at Timrocksweb.com. Don't forget 'Kerouac' either or 'Hangin' In.'

No don't go crazy but I've decided to take some time off from performing until the Spring. I need a break from all the usual joints I perform in and I'm hoping some new ones might open up. Hell, maybe I'll buy a car and go on the road. With all the change being in the air after the election of Barack Obama I've decided that I could use some of that too. I'm writing a new blog at http://open.salon.com/user_blog.php?uid=14132 so you might want to take a look at that. As a matter of fact that's what I'm going to be doing with my extra time: writing more blog entries and working on my latest novel. Some day I'll tell all about the other writing that I do.

Meanwhile, here in NYC, I know we are all looking forward to the warmer weather that Spring will bring. A real warmer-upper. That's what I'm looking for right now.
December 2008
...And my choice for the Best New release of 2008...!!!...THE COST by Tim Young Band!!! Yeah. Fireworks and Brass bands play an extraordinary Congratulations! Phew. At least I've made one 'Best Of' list. That's right, the number one choice of all Tim Young Band fans is THE COST. Not only that but this is the record to take you soaring into the New Year. Bring some fresh sounds into your life by having a listen to a real independent release; not something the media or other power brokers have told you to listen to but something truly ORIGINAL.

As a matter of fact, I am now declaring December 2008 and January 2009 as official buy your copy of THE COST months. Dig into 'Kerouac' and 'Drifting Cowboy.' Stir the soup to 'The Cost,' 'Outta Town,' and 'What to Do.' Explore new meanings with 'Hangin In,' 'Remember,' and 'Wishing.' Then begin a new day with 'Movin' On,' and 'Renegade.' You will feel refreshed and like you have accomplished something good on your insides; because you have by listening to THE COST!

Happy Holidays to all and Best Wishes!
This is November!
Yikes. October vanished. We, Sand and I, did four shows at the BullMoose saloon. The manager that hired us disappeared after our first show. We managed to get three more in before the new manager made a different kind of decision. Don't matter. We had a great time performing there. Now we will get to see what's up next.

Working with Music Dish in promoting 'The Cost' has been a great experience. Eric and Sounni de Fontenay are professionals who know how to get things accomplished. They have helped spread the word about 'The Cost' to many a far flung corner of the web. They have been excellent in creating new ideas to promote this record and I'm looking forward to our continued relationship.

Please check out two great videos from 'The Cost' on You Tube. Simply search for Tim Young Band and you will find the videos for Kerouac and for Renegade both directed by my super talented friend Joe Cabatit. More are in the works.

TYB wishes all our fans, new and old, the most thankful of Thanksgivings. It is appearing that change is on the horizon, a change for the common good and this is something we should all be thankful for.

See ya next month!
September '08
Wow. Nearly let Sept. get by. Today is the last of the month.
Latest news is that Tim Young Band now has a new venue to scorch here
in Hell's Kitchen. One night I was standing at the bar at Circus, on
ninth, when this guy came up to me and said he recognized me from my old
haunt Bellevue Bar which is now gone. I said, "yeah, that's me." Then
he went ahead and offered me a gig at the Bull Moose Saloon at 354 W.
44th st. Sure I had been in there before even played a couple of songs
at some party on the upper level but I had never seen a band there; didn't
know that they did that.

So we played our first gig there on Thursday Sept. 25th and it was a huge hit!
So much so that we may be there every other week for a while so the next gig
is Thursday October 9th at 11 PM. The Kitchen is taking care of us.

THE COST also received it's second review from an on line publication known
as Wildy's World. I'll put the link on the promo page so you can check it out.
Another good one too! October news is up next.
The Cost First Review!
Please click on Promo Page to read the first review to come in
for the new album the Cost. It's fantastic and you will feel even better once
you decide to make this music your own. Thanks to Liz Singer and

Amazing Party
As promised the new album The Cost was released on Sunday July 27th with an amazing party at Connolly's Pub in mid-town Manhattan.

First I'd like to thank the venue, Connolly's, for being the perfect host for this event. They treated all of us top notch. Professional. They delivered on all their promises and the party went off like a rocket.

Next mucho special thanks to the Detroit contingent who added all the right elements to this party. Those being: talent, enthusiasm, good vibes and a sense of adventure that helped push the party to such an awesome level. Mark Meisel, Billie Meisel, Bob Becker, Jennifer Becker, Dave Leeds, and Rick Becker all landed in the Big Apple ready to rock.

The line up for the band that night was; Sand Edwards, drums; Dave Leeds, bass;
Mark Meisel, lead guitar; Rick Becker, lead guitar; and myself, rhythm guitar and lead vocals. The sound man, John, put together a mix that helped the band exlode with the new music from The Cost.

And, of course, thanks to all the fantastic people who joined in this party and helped make it a night that will live in the memory for many moons to come.

In that respect I will soon post a bunch of shots from the party so that we can all continue to celebrate the release of The Cost here at the website.

Thank you New York! And Detroit!!
July 27th...THE COST!
This dream has come true. 'The Cost' will be officially released on Sunday July 27th 2008 at a CD Release Party in mid-town Manhattan. The venue is the well known Connolly's Pub & Restaurant located at 121 W. 45th street between 7th and 6th avenues. The third floor of the establishment is known as the Klub 45 Room and that's exactly where this shindig will take place. Festivities will begin at 9pm with the performance about an hour later.

The Cost has been over a year in the making and so is absolutely ready to make a flash start out of the gate. Producers Mark Meisel and Bob Becker of Counter Clockwise Music of Detroit will be on hand to help raise the celebration to the highest levels. Mark will be performing with the band so that the whole kick of the album will be felt head to toe and beyond the brain. Beyond the Brain. I like that.

Tim Young Band: Tim Young, acoustic guitar and lead vocals; Sand Edwards, drums; is also inviting the music press, public relations, entertainment writers, and radio and television to help make this release one to remember. More information may be obtained by writing to the band at tycost@gmail.com

Please mark your calendars now and be prepared for a great night on the town with The Cost.
Jimmy Fallon with Tim Young
What a cool surprise. At my gig at Bellevue Bar on Tuesday night November 22 Jimmy Fallon and some friends show up. Jimmy was great. He bought me a couple of shots and then the entire bar a round. The energy in the joint just went throught the roof. What a great night. I mean I had the joint jumpin' from the very first tune; and Jimmy led the charge. Jimmy even did some harmonies with me. A blast. He was a really great guy and the fact that he totally was into my music made the night one to remember. So here's a huge toast to Jimmy and an invatation to come party with us at Bellevue anytime.
And remember, 'I ain't goin' into work today!'
May I?
Of course I May. This month on the 13th Tim Young Band debuted at a new venue for us which was Bar Nine on 9th avenue between 53rd and 54th streets. It was a great gig. Lots of new faces in addition to our fabulous regular fans that desrve copies of the new CD 'The Cost' which they will have the minute it becomes available.

The record is being mastered now and so things are gearing up for the Release Party. Producer Mark Meisel and Mix Engineer Bob Becker will be joing the band in New York City for the festivities. They will be coming in from Detroit where the CD was recorded, produced and mixed. Mastering is by Dave Davis of Sound Images which is based in Cincinnati.

On Monday May 19th I solo performed at the Vintage Bar, also on 9th avenue, where I leave 'em wanting more once a month. Not only are the Vintage gigs solo now but also unplugged. The complete sound is up to my Martin and my voice. It's a cool challenge to ride above all the bar chatter and remain focused on the job at hand but that's what it's all about.

I'm thinking the CD Release Party may take place at Bar Nine. It should defiintiely take place in Hell's Kitchen, my backyard, and Bar Nine is equipped with the cool vibe and backline and a great bar that definitely knows how to get this party started.

Rock on my homies, The Cost is on the way...
Wow April '08
The News is that the new CD 'The Cost' is finally all mixed and ready to be mastered! It's been an amazing journey and I am so grateful to be at this stage of production. Coming up will be all the details of getting the record ready for sale and even more fun than that will be the CD release party here in NYC. Our producers Mark Meisel and Bob Becker will be finding their way to Manhattan along with, hopefully, our session bass player, Dave Leeds.

At this point I'm looking at sometime in mid June so all you Tim Young fans should begin to polish up those party shoes right now. It won't be long.

Also my friend Joe Cabatit is shooting some video for me. We're gonna do up at least four of the tunes from the new record. Right now we're working on the tune 'Kerouac.' We also want to do 'Cold Wind,' 'Outta Town,' and 'The Cost.' Joe is a very talented director and the videos are gonna rock out.

Also very exciting is that I've covered one of my own songs, 'Renegade.' It appears on my second release, RED. This version is a total flipside of the mostly acoustic version on RED. It moves in so many other directions and yet still remains one cohesive statement. You'll just have to hear it.

Stay tuned for May as further developments continue...

House Concerts In Your Home

Dedicated our most recent gig to my Mom and we absolutely tore the Vintage Bar to shreds. The owner was there and handed me a bar coaster on which he had written please turn down some if you can, I had a complaint. Right on. It's not an awesome gig unless some fucker complains. Our fans were rabid for the sounds that Sand and I were cranking out. The energy was flowing like a mad river and everyone was caught up in it. Plus there were several new people there who are now big fans and that is good business.

This gig was just this past Monday, the 18th. We are also looking for new venues so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you're looking for a real rock n roll band with great songs and endless energy. One of our new fans said that he thought we sounded like a combo of Lou Reed and Warren Zevon. Man, I can deal with company like that any day.

The new album, THE COST, is another step or three near to completion. I'm thinking April or May for a release date. Once I have all the mixes then I'm gonna post it all here. Everything is sounding so fine. Thanks for your support.
Sad January
Because I love her so much I've decided to share my grief with the world. On January 27th 2008 my Mom died. She was always a great encouragement to me in all my artistic endeavors. She cheered me on and was always the most positive force for me in whatever decisions I would make.

I'll miss you Mom and may you Rest In Peace.

Celebration in November
Sander Hicks, the founder of Brooklyn's Vox Pop Coffee house, has invited me to perform at the 3rd anniversary of Vox Pop on Thursday November 15, 2007. I've played out there two other times. It's an orginal idea for a Coffee joint because besides promoting the bean it also is involved with promoting democracy and freedom of thought. There is always an event going on @ Vox Pop: Films, performance, book readings and neighborhood gatherings all lend to the unique atmosphere at Vox Pop.

I'm happy to celebrate this anniversary with Sander and the Vox Pop crew. It's always great to raise a voice in song for the individual especially in this age of 'sameness.' My part of the evening's festivities begins at 10pm. For more info please get in touch with me.

The latest news on THE COST is that over half of the album is mixed and in really excellent shape. Bob and Mark at Counterclockwise Music are making a real effort to finish this off before the end of the year. Other details are also taking shape and becoming reality. When the CD release party is announced the excitement will really take off because Mark Meisel (lead guitar and keys) and Dave Leeds (bass) will be coming into New York to perform with TYB! Fantastic!
December 2007
Turn the page on another year. An eventful one. TYB went to Detroit and recorded bed tracks and lead vocals for what will eventually be the new album, THE COST, which is the follow up to Tim's solo debut RED, which was released in 2005.

In November which is National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo, I completed a 50,000 word (plus) manuscript which is titled RED BERET. Something about that color red! But it was really exciting because I was a winner of NaNoWriMo for 2007! The challenge is that the book must be completed in the thirty days of November to win the certificate. Fifty thousand words in thirty days. Yeah. My typing skills have moved forward big time.

TYB gained a gig at Vintage Bar, then lost it, and now have been reinstalled as the house band. Sand and I are there once a month but the crowds are increasing so maybe next year we'll be able to add another gig or two.

Thanks for reading.
Drifting Cowboy
Drifting Cowboy, one of the featured tracks from my new album, THE COST, is already making the indie rounds as part of a compilation of artists the Podcaster Mike Stephens has put together. Mike's show, The Open Mike Cafe, comes out every week and can be heard at openmikecafe.blogspot.com You can find info there on how to purchase a copy of 'The Open Mike Cafe Presents...' Besides myself there are 17 other artists including Bobby Pennock, Elaine Romanelli, Tina Mancusi and Phillip Flathead. This is a great chance to check out a bunch of new music and all proceeds go to a charity that helps feed hungry kids.
Cold Wind
Well October is now walking down my hall way. Hey pal, wipe those dead leaves off your feet! Oh well, he's coming in anyway. But it's cool cause in his hands he's carrying a mix of Cold Wind which is the second track from the new album THE COST that you can check out here at the site. While you're here don't forget that Drifiting Cowboy is here too and definitely worth a listen I would say. Right Guv'nor. I don't know, for some reason I just thought of Bugs Bunny. He was a sly one. Well the carrots here are for your ears to munch on so go on ahead a start to crunch. See ya next month.
Blast My Music

The Cost
There has been some progress of late on the new CD. New mixes are beginning to come in and the dialog between Counter Clockwise Music and my self is producing some very fine results.

I still can only guess at a release date but my guess is that THE COST will be one of the first albums released in 2008. Until then I'll post some of the best mixes right here.

Mean while RED is still gaining fans and podcasters all over the web. Please check out Reverbnation/timyoungband to see the latest web buzz on TYB. Cool.

Tim Young Band
Live Tracks!
I finally was able to put up some live versions of a few tunes from the Vintage Bar gigs. Please check out: The Cost, Cold Wind (two songs from the new CD The Cost) Renegade, Unemployment Line and Work Today all live from Vintage Bar.
Yeah!
July is #7 in '07
Lots of sevens this month. Could be good. Could be great. Keeping the glass half filled. Wanting to fill 'er up. Tim Young Band will be appearing at the Vintage Bar this month, our seventh gig there. Last month the place was packed so I'm looking forward to a repeat of that...

The new record is moving along. You can check next month if I'm right or wrong but I'm feeling like a real surge of activity is just about to happen. Besides I have a lot of work on my end that I can begin to take care of right now. Including the cover art and all that.

A first public airing of one of the songs from the album will appear on Mike Stephen's podcast, The Open Mike Cafe, next week. That's the week of July 16.
The track is called 'Drifting Cowboy' and tells the story of Hank Williams through the eyes of a guy he might have met once. Mike said the song is really getting in his blood so even though it's not a finished mix we've decided to get it out there. Mike's shows are always loaded with great music from idependent artists and are always more than worthwhile.

Until next month, don't forget to check out the stars in the night sky because they are burning, burning ,burning.
May Bye Bye Hello June
Well. The process of completing a new album is always longer than one imagines. The long anticipated new album by Tim Young Band will more than likely be hitting the airwaves and cyberwaves sometime this fall. Even though it is difficult, at least for me, to get through the summer without the new record, the results that are even now beginning to be mixed and molded will be well worth the arduous wait.

Counterclockwise Music and myself are involved in a classic struggle to acheive the right sounds and balance for each tune. The best setting, the best beats, the best flavor and the strongest emotional impact. All aimed at creating a new world in each and every song.

Even though the element of time may be frustrating it is also a very exciting time as well because as the sounds do find their place and the songs begin to take on their own life the anticipation of completion just grows and grows.

It's not premature either to give many thanks to producer Mark Meisel and chief engineer Bob Becker for their tireless efforts in helping to create the best possible new record for Tim Young Band. And since I've begun to mention 'thankyous' already let me say that my drummer Sand Edwards has been such an inspiration in giving these tunes the fuel and propellant they need to each take off and fly high.

Meanwhile TYB's monthly gigs continue at the Vintage Bar and Restuarant right here in Hell's Kitchen. June's date is Sunday the 24th at 10pm. This summer is gonna Rock big time!
2007 January Big Stuff
Well. If you have happened to read the update previous to this one you'll see that I mentioned that we now have a new gig at the Vintage Bar. Not. The owner did not get back to me about this month's gig and last night I walked by the place and it was closed! How weird...

But now, turn the page, and see what else TYB is down with. OK. Dates have been set for mid March for Tim Young Band to venture to Counterclockwise Music Studios in Michigan to record the new CD which I'm gonna call 'The Cost' That will be the title tune and one that will not be forgotton too soon. There will be at least a dozen new songs so that we can all go crazy and have a huge CD release party.

In addition to myself and drummer Sand Edwards the new CD will also feature guitar and keyboards by our outstanding new producer Mark Meisel. Mark and partner Bob Becker, own and operate the Counterclockwise studios and co-op label. It's a real treat to be involved with talent of this caliber. So now this is where our focus will zoom in for the next few months. Mark even mentioned the possibility of a tour come May so please stay tuned for the next great update.

One last thing this month is that I wanted to thank my friend and podcaster Mike Stephens again for all his support and without whom I never would have met Mark Meisel and Counterclockwise Music. Yeah.
March is Michigan & April Yeah
13 songs in 8 days. Whirlwind is a word that comes to mind. Tim Young Band flew out to Detroit, Michigan to record the basic tracks for the new cd THE COST. Mike Stephens of The Open Mike Cafe Podcast opened the doors of his home to TYB. A most amazing host. Mike shuttled the band, Tim and Sand Edwards, to all the sessions and featured the band on the latest podcast of the Open Mike Cafe #55.

TYB was up to the task arranged by producer Mark Meisel and engineer Bob Becker. Bed tracks were recorded at Pac 3 studios famous for many great R & B and Motown recordings. Pac 3 has a real down home vibe and is conducive to all day sessions that stretch far into the wee hours. Three nights the band including session bassist Dave Leeds knocked off the high energy tunes with titles like "Movin' On,''Cold Wind,' 'Renegade,' and 'Drifting Cowboy,' which will help make up the new album.

Lead vocals were recorded at Mark's home studio known as The Lily Pad. That consumed another three days and at this moment Mark is putting together the vocal comps and adding lead guitar and keyboards to the basic tracks.

I have to say(this is Tim speaking)that recording with Mark Meisel and Bob Becker and the folks at Counterclockwise Music was just the best possible experience. We all worked very hard but we all had a blast and drank way too much coffee but the coffee was good. Also from the results I'm hearing so far the sounds we captured are excellent and the songs are definitely coming across. Our meaning and emotions are clear.

Here's to our new cd THE COST. There is no specific release date yet but I think we can look for a late Spring, early Summer date. And then the fur will fly. All the new tracks will, of course, be posted here on the website. Get those ears ready!
December News & Views
The chapter is closing fast on 2006 but December brought some great news for the Tim Young Band. We now have a regular gig again at a new Bar called VINTAGE. It's located on 9th avenue just off of 51st street in Hell's Kitchen. The owner is Bill Gouldman and he has hired us to play there once a month. We did our first show there on Sunday December 17th. It was so cool to play for a whole new crowd. It was only after the gig that we learned we would play there once a month because the show went over so well. Very exciting.

We have also found the studio to record the new cd. Recording will begin in January. Since the majority of the recording will be live; we should have some results rather quickly to put up on the site. Can't wait.

I'd especially like to thank Mike Stephens, who hosts a podcast known as The Open Mike, for his unbridled support of my cd RED. He has featured about half of the album on various segments of The Open Mike. He also supports a bunch of other great artists on his program and is totally dedicated to exposing the unheard music.

Happy New Year to all the Fabulous Fans of Indie music. I know that 2007 is gonna be an amazing year for all of us...
November is Podcast Month
Yeahhhhhhhhhh! That's right you heard right November is Podcast month.
My new friend Mike Stephens posts a podcast every week out of Wayne, Michigan.
It's called The Open Mike. This week he is featuring my song ' Work Today.'
Rob Safuto has done this also on his PodccastNYC show. This is so great.
'Work Today' has been building a reputation as a song that is a contender, a real
opportunity for a breakout. Please don't forget to check out my Myspace page at
MySpace.com/timnycyoung 'Work Today' is really turning heads there. The link to The Open Mike is: http://mmreadingroom.com/mike/podcast.html

I think you'll really enjoy Mike's Podcast. He's got this awesome radio voice that kind of envelopes you and makes it almost irresistable to listen to the entire podcast more than once. The other artists are very cool too.

Meanwhile, Tim Young Band is hard at work on the pre production details for the new cd which will be released early next year.
OCTOBER FLASH
Wow. I missed the August and Sept. updates. Oh well. It's now autumn and things are cooling off. The big news is that the Tim Young Band will no longer be performing at Bellevue aka Club Siberia. No, my 'friend' Steve who is the bartender there told us to pack it up. He said he was losing money when we played. After over a year there then there are two bad weeks and he gives us the boot. Wow. It's gonna take a while to absorb that one. Fortunately I have always been one who appreciates the chance to move on so that's the deal.

We still need to find the right studio to record the new cd but I know it's coming along. We are breaking in a bass player, a guy named Sean. He is very talented and I decided to bring him aboard once the Bellevue thing went out the window. I think for the new cd that having the bass in there will only add a great spice to the recording stew.

Sunday nights my kid, Adam, aka DJ Spike, is 'spinning' Death Metal at a local bar known as Circus. it's really catching on too. Metal Heads are coming out of the woodwork. He blasts this shit through my PA that we were using at Bellevue so the thing is still getting a lot of use. Just FYI, Yamaha makes a great PA. Change is good.
Spring in the Kitchen
All the leaves are in the trees. That lush spring green. Beautiful.

Tuesday evenings in the hood the leaves go unnoticed. There is a particular sound
leaking out from under a black door with a red light above. Open the door to reveal the Rock n Roll of my band, Tim Young Band, fleshing out the darkness
creating movement and tension, releasing the new week's demons into sound and
light. Beautiful.

The band is minimal. Amplified acoustic guitar and drums played by Sand Edwards.
The energy in this nascent scene is palpable. Go ahead and touch it.
The room is large. Below the bar is another bar. Bellevue and Siberia. One
on top of the other. Mystery and chance dance together.
Come out and play.
MySpace
There was a big discussion about MySpace on this Music Thoughts list that I subscribe to. The pros and cons were tossed back and forth. My take is that it's a very cool tool for musicians. It's exposure one would not have and the chance to hook up with a lot of interesting folks and not just from the US either. It doesn't cost a dime to set up your page and then you can go as nutty as you choose. Some people's pages are so busy they are difficult to look at. But, hey, that's cool, just move on to someone elses.

It's a trip to watch your list of friends grow as they check out your music and your pix. Leaving comments is a big thing and a great way to increase your presence on MySpace. There are literally millions and millions of people at your fingertips. Just go one at a time.

I just couldn't bear talking about my music or my band again right now. It's good to take a break, I think. I gotta clean my house and buy some fresh flowers for my one vase. The ones in there now are all dried out and dead; gotta bring some fresh life into this joint.
March & April Updates
Wow. I just had to delete a bunch of spam from my guestbook page. Hey you weirdos, knock it off!!

There's big news about the Bellevue gigs. I'm now performing with this great drummer, Sand Edwards. We've got that Dive bar shakin' in it's shoes. We play twice a week; that's tuesday nights and thursday nights around 11pm. It's exciting because the vibe is out there. I mean word is spreading all around Hell's Kitchen what a cool sound is going on at Bellevue Bar. Playing twice a week keeps everything tight and right and helps expand the repetoire. It also allows for some really cool jams that just are not possible for the solo act. Come on out to Bellevue at 40th and 9th ave in Hell's Kitchen.
Gigs in 2005 Come to a Close
Last night, December 27th, was my last gig of the year. What an amazing year it has been. This time last year I was finishing off the final touches on my new record RED. I was performing at the Electric Banana Bar. Now, the record is out and doing great and I'm performing weekly at the Bellevue Bar. My PA was stolen by the landlord of the Electric Banana when he closed that joint in April. Shortly after that the gigs at Bellevue kicked in.
Working without the PA has turned into the most amazing experience. I'm free to wander right up to anyone I choose and give it to 'em. Man, that is a tres cool thing to do. Generally people dig things up close and rock n roll is certainly no exception.
Next Tuesday is January 3rd and my first gig in 2006. This is really an open invitation for anyone interested in discovering a cool rockin scene to make it to the Bellevue Bar on Tuesday nights and see what it is exactly I'm talking about. That's 40th and 9th ave. in NYC.

By the way, I now have some video posted at the bottom of my Bio page so if you have the chance check that out too.
Ah November
Doesn't November send you somewhere? It does me. I believe it's some ancient subconscious place that has to do with the harvest and taking care of business for the winter months ahead. Last night I saw the fallen leaves blowing in the glow of street lights and the cool wind touching me even on the insides. For me it's even more magical than Spring. Take some time to be outside and experience some of these Autumn sensations. Priceless. Autumn rocks.
More October
Well now the 70's are gone. I have the stinkin' oven on to help chase the chill out of my pad.
I visited Vox Pop last night because next Monday I perform there. I really liked it. I walked in
as they were having a beer tasting. Great Belgian brews and also stuff from Portland, Maine
and Washington State. Delish. It was cool to be in Brooklyn for a change. I gave a copy of
RED to Sander Hicks, who owns the joint, and he really liked it.
I'm gonna be doing some more recording soon so keep watch for some new tunes posted on
this lovely site. Please don't forget that every tuesday nite is the Bellevue Bar gig!
Oh October
No frost on the old pumpkin patch yet. Mid 70's here in NYC. Which means things are heating
way up for an amazing autumn for RED. Not only leaves and the breeze but RED music will
color the zone. The mother freakin' rock n roll zone all lit up for the final quarter of 2005.
Can ya feel it? Can ya FEEL it??!!
Get out and shake it! Turn up 'Renegade' and put the action in the accelerator. Put the
shove into love and the heat in the beat. The moment is everything.
Gig Update & Thanks
I want to say a big thanks to everyone who has been supporting me at my Bellvue gigs. Especially, Adam, Paula, Paul, Andy H., Jens, Keith, Scott, Panama, Ed, Tigun, Maurice, Lisa, Denise, Diane, Mel and Orit, Jeffrey, Kevin, George and all the other great regulars.

The unplugged gigs are really exciting and everyone is digging that I'm totally acoustic. I'm having a great time playing there. I want these Tuesday nights to really take off and they can so I really need to put my shoulder to the promotion wheel. That's the big push now.

Also special thanks to Tracy, Bellvue's owner, for helping to bring live music to Hell's Kitchen and to help spice up the night life on 9th avenue!
September Stuff
Two more gigs at Bellevue this month. This past tuesday, the 13th, was so cool. Adam, my son, brought himself and four others into the bar, which in turn brought in even more folks because folks on the street saw the scene going on in the bar (and me playing) I'll tell ya when you can connect with the people listening to the music it just pushes the performance to the next level. i mean it really gets me high.

I'm also excited about October because on the 24th at 8pm I'll be performing at Vox Pop which is a very cool coffeehouse, bookstore kinda venue in Flatbush Brooklyn. It'll be great to make the sounds in some new territory.

September is also seeing a bunch of new songs in my set so if it's possible to get to one of my gigs I guarantee a hard rockin' set. See ya soon.
Airplay!
I want to say a big thanks to Kathy Decker of Wichita, KS for letting me know via my guest book that my song 'The Road" was featured on NPR, National Public Radio. There's this program called CarTalk that airs every Saturday morning and so they use songs about cars and also The Road to fill in gaps and pot holes. 'The Road' aired on Saturday August 6, 2005. That's the first National exposure for a song from RED. Very exciting.

Also excting is Dan Herman's Radio Crystal Blue. This is internet radio and Dan used my song 'Unemployment Line' as part of his New Music segment.

This all made me think just how great radio still is. It remains a very powerful medium and one that all of us indies would do well to foster and respect.
August 9th at Bellvue
This was my first solo night, 'unplugged,' at Bellvue. It was a fantastic gig. I didn't need a PA.
The room is small enough for me to get away with just my trusty Martin and my voice. A really decent chunk of my mailing list showed up and my performance was right on target. I even sold four copies of RED. The crowd was so appreciative that it just made the entire evening golden.

My new 'band' had it's first rehearsal last night.(the 10th) Unfortunately the drummer that I met
and was so excited about didn't work out. He's got the right attitude but didn't have the chops to cut it. Oh well. Just a little set back.

I'm looking forward to my Tuesday nite gigs at Bellvue. I'm there every tuesday night for as long as I want. Also just FYI The Bellvue gigs come right in time to keep my string of performances in tact. The Electric Banana Bar kept me busy for the two years previous to these new gigs. I performed over 70 shows at Banana from 2003 to the spring of 2005.
Change in the Air
I have to take care of some business. Just last night I was offered my own night to perform at the Bellvue Bar. The owner, Tracy, has set me up for Tuesday nights. I'll probably play from 10 to midnight. The business i need to resolve is that my PA that I was storing at the, now defunct, Electric Banana Bar was 'removed' (stolen) by the landlord of the bar. He will not return my calls. But now I need my PA to get the gigs going at Bellvue! What a drag. I'm probably going to have to purchase a new PA. I don't want to give up the gig.
I especially don't want to do that because I have a new band in the wings that I could debut at Bellvue once we're ready. Until then I'll be performing solo.

The new band does not have a name yet. It's a trio. Guitar, bass and drums. Our very first rehearsal is next Wed. the 10th. I am hoping that all of this energy going out will help set the stars in proper alignment to kick this new project off the ground proper.
A New Day
Well now, The series of gigs at Bellvue is over and thank goodness for that. That's because my sandwiched sets between Mel Williams Band has worn very thin. The bread has lost it's crust and more. The facts are that Mel is an amazing guitar player but the fact that I play only my original songs is not sitting with the powers that be. "Why don't you play covers," someone on the inside said to me.
Why? Well if I have to answer that question for anyone then they have no idea what I am about.

I do have the genesis of a new band. I have found a bass player and a drummer who are both really into the idea of playing the songs off of my new release. RED. And so this is the way I am going now.
